Rain Ups the Challenge

Round 2 BOP Trials Champs

It was a little bit unsure what the day was going to bring with the weather being quite changeable over the few days before the event. The other unknown was how many riders would come over from the Waikato with the Kaimais closed for repairs. It was good to see 8 or so make the elongated trip over to make up the numbers to 27 competitors.

The trial was set out by Nigel, John and Francis however Nigel eased the sections on Sunday because of the overnight rain. The format for the day was 4 laps of 10 sections. Maddix Park is renowned for tree roots, muddy banks and rocky rivers and most of the sections were in familiar areas with some sections being run in reverse from usual. 

The overall event turned out really well with everyone losing points along the way and the sometimes simple looking obstacles catching riders unawares.

The 3 expert riders were seen to be adjusting the severity of some of their sections to increase the degree of difficulty to the point of being "uncleanable".  These riders really like a challenge. It was also good to see a new rider, David Groom from Matata riding the Sportsman's line.
