Motorcycle and Scooter Ride to Work Day

 Friday 12th February 2010

Rendez-vous: 7am – 9am at the Northern end of the Strand reclamation car park.

Many countries have celebrated riding to work with an event over the years, and now it’s NZ's turn.

Motorcycling is growing in popularity so everyone needs to be aware of riders on the road.  The Tauranga happening is part of a nationwide initiative to remind riders and non-riders just how great 2 wheeled motorised transport can be.

All riders are welcome whether they be on a scooter or a Harley.  MTA asks like-minded riders to” help demonstrate to all motorists and decision making agencies that bike riders are on the road too and that riding a motorcycle leaves a small carbon footprint, causes less traffic congestion, is cheap to run, easier to park and heaps of fun. “All things we know full well.

The event is on rain, hail or snow.  If you register ([email protected] ) you could be in to win one of the prizes that will be drawn on the day. As the team at Bayride say “This is a great opportunity to go for an early morning ride, meet with your fellow riders, have a breakfast snack, maybe win a prize and watch a couple of speakers - all before going to work! Is there a better way to start the day?”

The breakfast is being held in partnership with ACC, which is trying to promote two road and motorcycle safety websites: www.rideforever.co.nz  and   www.scootersurvival.co.nz  The other site for information is www.mta.org.nz/ridetowork2010
