Do you know this man ?

He has been seen on MX tracks all around New Zealand for a good 10 years, accompanied by and supporting  his two young son MX riders but also at club and National events in an organizing capacity. He is approachable and pro-active.

His name is Ray Broad.

Too many people grumble and mumble and complain about Motorcycling NZ but not many do anything about it.  Ray Broad is not one of the many.  This year, he is standing for the Motorcycle New Zealand Board.

The Motorcycle New Zealand board consists of 2 representatives from the North Island and two from the South (one road and one off road rep in each case) plus one extra seat which can be from any discipline and either island.

This extra seat is the seat that Ray is aiming for.  He is up against two others from the road race community.

Do you think motocross riders need more of a voice in MNZ ?

Do you think adjustments should be made to the classes ?

Do you think mini riders face too many barriers ?

Do you want some of the MNZ road blocks removed?

Do you think changes are needed within MNZ ?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then Ray Broad is your man. Check out his personal profile below.

Ray Broad : Personal Profile

Having been involved in Motocross for over ten years, as a parent, competitor and steward, I am pleased to be nominated as the North Island Board member for Motorcycling New Zealand.

Being part of this sport is exciting and with this opportunity I am standing to represent all members from all disciplines of this sport.

As a Designer and Contracts Manager of a successful Building Company, the skills I

will bring to the MNZ Board are,

- Good organisational skills

- The ability to listen and understand problems

- Able to work as a team

- Business Management

- Excellent communication skills

I believe the passion and motivation I have will complement MNZ. Being actively

involved in the sport at Club and competition level keeps me current with the needs,

concerns of competitors and parents.

I have been involved with the following

- Riders Rep at National level

- Steward and Clerk of Course

- Event Co-ordinator of North Island Mini Champs

- MNZ sub committee member on rule review

- Sponsorship Co-ordinator

Policies

Looking forward and listening to members there is a number of concerns that need to be addressed,

- Keeping rules current

- Ensuring bikes conform with regulations

- Consistency of rules being applied

- Managing Costs

At club level

- Increasing member numbers

- Embracing School Motorcycle Tournaments to grow member numbers

- Better promotion of clubs/ disciplines and events

- Better communication with MNZ

- Transparent decision making

Objective

My objective is to Ensure MNZ stays current with rules and looks to implement a growth strategy that helps Clubs. We need to embrace other events to grow competitor numbers. In all disciplines a high performance squad is needed to assist our future stars and ensure New Zealand has World Class competitors.

We need to look after our competitors, supporters, manufactures and sponsors.

This is a sport and not just a hobby, time to look forward
