The decision has been made

Rotorua MX is on

Yes, the decision has been made. The Rotorua Club MX round is definitely on tomorrow Sunday 12th June.  Club officials have been working on the track this afternoon.  They are taking out a couple of the big jumps - the back drop off for example,  cutting the track around and adapting it to suit the conditions.  One piece of advice.  Be prepared for some mud.

It will be an early start for all the local riders aiming to get there for the 8am-9am sign on.  Trent Duggan leads the 65cc A grade class and is all fired up to do battle with fellow locals Josh McClymont (3rd) and Alex Cameron (4th).

Tauranga club members have a strong presence in the 8-12 years 85cc class.  Jack McClymont will be going all out to move up a notch and take the overall lead away from Tyler Steiner but it will be tough as Wesley Fuller as well is snapping away behind in 4th place.  Chris Merriman loves the space and the length of the big track so he’ll be out there riding his 65cc in this higher grade and confident of improving on his 8th overall position. Jacob Paterson, Connor Lucas, Jonno Barnes, Josh Allen and Brad Jeffrey will all be fixing a top 10 finish as their goal.

Absent from the 13-16 85cc racing will be overall leader Cameron Forlong, who  is still at home recovering from, on the left side, an ankle and a shoulder injury, and  on the right, a knee and a wrist injury. This means he is in a wheelchair but to his great disappointment it is not motorized or self-propelled.  Cameron’s non-start provides a great opportunity for Lee Ormsby to move up to the lead from his current 2nd position and for Christina Cameron to move up from 8th as well.

For the same reason, Evan Hawkless (4th)  will have a similar opportunity  to move up in the Junior 125-250cc  class and Hayden Rumble, after a very successful round at Whakatane last month is keen to show how much better he can do than 7thTaylor Trott is aiming to maintain his top of the podium position in the Junior Novice class.

The Women’s class has local riders in 6 of the first 8 placings.  Casey Waterhouse leads the charge followed by vet Julie Managh then Ashley Bond. Jessie Waterhouse is running 5th,Nikki Atchison 6th and Christina Cameron 8th.

Tauranga and Te Puke are also strongly represented in the Vets class with Dion Steiner (1st), Rob Sutherland  (2nd), Ian Conway (5th), Craig Ryder (6th), Julie  Managh (11th), Neville Trow (12th) and Keith Paterson (13th). The same names can be found in the MX1 class with Keith Paterson 4th, Luke Henry 6th, Craig Ryder 8th and Ian Conway 9th.  Dion Steiner is third overall in the MX2.  Stan Oliff is 9th in the senior Novice with Jeggs Ryder 17th

The Rotorua Club runs an ATV race as well.  Mark Goldstone leads this class with Rob Hunt in 5th and Nathan Hunt in 6th.

On the mini side, Jacob Hunt, Alex Fraser-Brown and Sam Meredith currently hold the first 3 spots in the KTM 50SX class.

In the 65ccs, Harrison Forrester-Moore is running first in the series with Xavier Anderson 4th after an unfortunate DNF in Round 1.

The Trail bike class sees Tamzin Fuller, Dylan Tredinnick and Luke Fraser-Brown, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively all hoping to dethrone the leader Jaye Mitchell.

Good luck to them all.  Ride well, ride safely, but above all, enjoy yourselves.
