Cambridge

Another Sunday and another series has begun.  This time it was the Cambridge Motorcycle Club hosting the first of six rounds that will decide their 2016 champions.  There was drizzle but nothing too dramatic and definitely not enough  to stop it being another highly successful day of racing. Lots of riders and full gates.

Cody Cooper, John Phillips and Aaron Wiltshier were there from the Honda Team providing inspiration for the younger riders and a great challenge for the more recreational riders who had to compete against them.  Cody Cooper, it was noted, had his head down by his handlebars when on the start line and he holeshot every time.

Danny Merriman got some good starts nevertheless – a second, 4th and 5th to the corner and finished between 5th and 8th in each race. As usual, he was in tough competition with his mate Josh Nijhuis but this time it was Danny’s turn to be in front, even though his 450 is heavier to handle in the damp.

Chris Merriman gained a 1st, a 2nd and, because of a messed up start, a 4th in his 125 race.

In the 85cc 11-12 Years, the podium was all Tauranga with Sam Meredith (1/1/1) on the top step, Sam Cooper(2/2/2) (pictured) in 2nd place and Kristian Crane (3/3/4) in third. the next round might prove more challenging as some of the usual 85cc competitors were riding at the junior nationals this weekend.

Stella Edwards was delighted to win all three girls races on the mini track.

Tokoroa

You could almost say it was an all "White" day at Tokoroa. Seadon White won all three races in his 50cc class and Dad Brendon won both of the two races he raced in.

Stella Edwards was 5th in her 65cc class. She likes the table tops that are good for jumps and the great build up on the berms.  She's looking forward to the Waikato minis in June.

Taupo

1st Travis Crane  got off to a fantastic start in the 4-8 Years  50cc Intro KTM class. His second and two firsts gave him top place on the podium for the day.  Rival Arama Te Whetu (3/8/5)was fourth and sandwiched in between were Hayden Draper and Abi Kai.

In the 4-8 Years Intro Japanese class, Addison Watts was 5th overall with consistent 5/5/6 finishes.

Harrion Findlay (3/4/2)was 2nd behind Ayden hall in the  6-8 Years MX 65  div 2
