GP Red Baron Motorcycles

Why ? was the first question we asked Owen Jessop, the new owner of  GP Red Baron Motorcycles in Mount Maunganui . Why a motorcycle business?

“When your CV says mechanic by trade, passionate motorcyclist by nature and saleman by virtue of experience, then the answer seems obvious,” says Owen.  “You do it because you want to do something you like and enjoy, and you want to give something back to the sport”.

Owen has been involved in motorcycling most of his life.  When he was young he was into road racing and successfully competed in sidecar and 2 wheel events in both NZ and Australia.  His focus widened to include the dirt bike scene when son Matthew began riding and winning MX titles around the country.  Now Owen is ready to pass on his knowledge and to help and support riders, particularly the young ones, in the Bay of Plenty area.

Owen and his partner Kerry Donaldson have come from the Waikato and are pleased to be here. “We’re a family business, Husqvarna, Gasgas ,  Aprilia and MV Augusta are great franchises covering both the on road and off road market and we’re looking to grow”, they say.
