Jacob Gundry - New Champ
Australian Junior Trials Title
The Australian Moto Trials Championship were held in the hills of Bendigo where hundreds of competitors and support crew turned out to compete, amongst those was Tauranga teenager Jacob Gundry competing in the Youth Class up against riders as old as 21. With the challenge of not only having to use a bike that had been hired it just happened to be the oldest bike in the class however in sections that were technical with not a lot of run ups in most parts making it even tougher Jacob won the class with 67 points, his closest rival was Z Mulacrzyk on 73 points. Each rider completed 15 sections twice each day to cover a total of 60 sections all up.
Jacob now looks to the New Zealand Moto Trials Championship that is to be held in his home town of Tauranga from the 26th to 28th October 2013.
Moto Trials is a motorcycle sport which requires the rider to manoeuvre the bikes through a series of marked ‘sections’ without incurring any penalties. The aim is to have the smallest amount of penalties on your score card and in general placing one foot on the ground during the section incurs a one-point penalty, five points for rolling backwards, stalling your bike or dislodging markets etc
