Australian Supercross season starts next weekend.
Running on the same weekend as the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, the Penrite Australian Supercross Championship will be held in the evenings on Friday, 10 October and Saturday, 11 October, giving motorsport fans the chance to see the best on four and two wheels in action.
Australian Supercross Championship contenders will compete on a track created from 250 truck loads of dirt and built by renowned track builder Malcolm Cash.
Cash, who arrives in Bathurst on Monday to commence the build with a team of 12, said the venue offered the perfect space to build an American style supercross track.
“We are really excited with the room we have to work with inside venue,” Cash said. “We have ample land to sculpt an American style supercross track. It has been more than a decade since Bathurst has hosted a supercross event so it is really exciting for the region. The track will provide an arena for some epic battles and close racing.”
Rounds one and two of the 2014 Australian Supercross Championship will be held at Bathurst Showground on 10-11 October.
With the Australian Supercross racing kicking off at 7:00pm, fans will be able to enjoy a full day at Mount Panorama before heading to town for an evening of family entertainment including supercross racing, monster trucks and freestyle motocross.
