Because the weatherman knows kids love mud and puddles he’s literally let loose on the premises here in Lierneux, Belgium one day before the 2014 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship will kick off.

Earlier today, as families and support crews helped their young riders with registration and technical control, the FIM put together a presentation promoting the ‘ride green’ project, an effort to increase environmental awareness. Later in the program, as the sun begun to set, the opening ceremony took place which proved to be a proud moment for everyone who has ever promoted or organized this event as they introduced riders from ALL6 continents.

Getting the show on the road MXGP-TV host Amy Dargan welcomed everyone to Lierneux followed by a video of last year’s FIM Junior Motocross World Championship and a rev-up film for this year’s edition. After the initial welcoming Scott Sports representative Diego Clement presented the bikes that the three fastest juniors will be taking home after they are crowned the 2014 FIM Junior Motocross World Champions. Following the excitement of who may be taking home a brand new Scott mountain-bike, the riders who had been grouped into their national teams were introduced.

With a whopping 289 riders entered, and all of them and their support crews attending the opening ceremony, it was interesting to say the least as the ceremony was moved indoors last minute thanks to the constant lashings of rain. In a memorable presentation, with the media center literally bursting at the seams, all 45 nations were introduced with loads of cheering and support wrapping up the day with an awesome vibe as we head full steam into tomorrow, what looks like will be a gnarly and muddy qualifying day at the 2014 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship.
