Milner has Commanding Lead
Australian 4DE
Day
three was characterised with perfect weather conditions and the spectacular
layout of the seven tests that challenged the riders once again.
201 out of the 242 riders started this morning
at Parc Ferme and went over to the KTM Cross Test, “The Woky” Cross Test and
the Pilot Air Enduro Test.
CDR Yamaha's Daniel Milner has maintained his outright
lead after day three of the 2013 Harvey Fresh Australian Four Day (A4DE) and
enters the final day with a one minute and five second lead over Motorex KTM's Chris Hollis.
Milner once again had a consistent day, winning
four of the first five tests, building a 3 second lead over Husqvarna'sMatthew
Phillips. But it was the final test of the three that proved to be the big
turning point of this years event.
Hollis won the final of seven tests for the day
by just over 12 second from Milner, while Phillips who had been in contention
for the outright win from the start of this years event finished the test in
12th position after a big crash, losing 27 seconds to Hollis and also 15
seconds to event leader, Milner.
“So far, we have had three different sorts of
terrains in three days." Phillips explained at day's end. " I felt
good. Few mistakes here and there and a few crashes..
"Racing was great between Daniel, Chris and
I. It kept me on my toes all day. I went down really hard in the last test, but
the race isn’t over yet. Still have one more day and we are just going to hit
it as hard as we can tomorrow. Hope that I can go fast enough to grab the
title," he added.
Phillips hopes of outright victory were further
damaged when he received a two minute time penalty for the day, relegating him
back to third place outright, just under 2 minutes and 33 second behind Milner
with just one timed test to run on the final day.
Glenn Kearney continues to sit in
fourth place outright, 1 minute and 20 seconds behind Phillips, while Active8
Yamaha rider, Josh Green holds town 5th, 34second further back.
Green however is coming under pressure from both his team mate, Tom McCormack, CDR Yamaha's Sterfan Merriman and Husqvarna's Lochlan Stanford with 5th through to 9th separated by less than 1 minute.
Motorex KTM's Ben Burrell rounds out the top ten outright heading in to
the final Motocross test tomorrow.
Tomorrow's final Motocross test will see riders separated in to their
respective classes and line up in full gates of 40 riders, with each riders
total motocross race time being added to their current overall time from the
initial 22 tests.
In the case were there are more than 40 riders in a class, riders will be split
in to gates of 40 riders determined by their current class standings.
The order of events will see the Masters (Vets 45+) race first, followed by the
Veterans (35+) class and the Women. The E1 class riders will be the next group
to front the start gate which will include race leader Milner.
Milner will then have and anxious wait as both Hollis and Phillips line up in
the following group of E2 class races. The Big Bore E3 class riders will then
concluded the 2013 event.
