Styke to double up at Coolum
Australian Champs 2013
Motocross news By Aaryn Minerds
Serco Yamaha team manager Michael has confirmed that 2013 Monster
Energy MX Nationals MX2 champion Luke Styke will line up in both the MX1 and
MX2 classes this weekend at the final round in of the championship in Coolum.
Styke wrapped up the 2013 title with a fantastic moto one win at Toowoomba on
the weekend with the team hinting that he may race both classes at Coolum. A
phone call to both Marty and Styke confirmed that those plans will go ahead
with Styke set to put in over two and a half hour of racing on Sunday.
"We do have something a little special planned for this weekend,"
Michael Marty confirmed to Fullnoise.com.au this morning. "Luke will
double up and race both his 250F and will also race the MX1 class on the 450
and give it everything he has got.
"It will be a bit of a busy truck this weekend, we have Luke riding both
bikes and also a quest rider from the Suzuki Race Safe team who will be riding
one of our bikes in the Veterans class this weekend.
Styke is looking forward to the opportunity to race the MX1 class this weekend,
though his main focus will be on finishing off a perfect season for his Serco
Yamaha team with the team gunning for a perfect 10 from 10 round wins this
weekend.
"This weekend is going to be good for the team, I will be heading to
Coolum to just enjoy it." Styke stated. "I really want to win the MX2
and finish off the season for the team and what ever happens on the 450
happens.
"I will be racing both classes which will mean I will be doing an hour and
ten minutes of racing on both bikes on Sunday." Styke explained. "I
don't know what my results are going to be like on the 450, but I will be up
there to enjoy it, make sure I win the 250 class and have fun on the 450.
"I am not going out there to light the world on fire, hopefully I can get
a good start and mix it up with the boys early," he added.
There will be no time for Styke or the team to rest with the upcoming
Supercross season fast approaching before Styke turns his attention to 2014 and
a possible ride overseas.
"We are getting real close at the moment," Styke continued in regards
to a race in the World Motocross championships for next year. "I can't
leak to much out but it is still my intention to go racing MX2 next year in the
World MXGP's and we are getting there."
